enhancing the resort experience through landscape architecture
Twin Towns Resort, a premier destination on the Gold Coast, expanded with a $60 million investment in a 197-apartment hotel. This ambitious development, a collaboration between Twin Towns Services Club and Baulderstone Hornibrook, integrated luxury accommodations with enhanced amenities, including retail spaces, extensive car parking, and a 15-storey resort tower. The landscape architecture played a crucial role in shaping the resort’s aesthetic and functionality, blending natural elements with the built environment to create a true resort experience.

a podium landscape
With much of the landscape design situated on a podium, careful planning was essential to ensure the longevity of the outdoor spaces. Elements include a resort-style swimming pool, water features, paved gathering areas, a mini-golf course, and planter boxes. Recreational spaces such as a children’s playground, tennis courts, and open lawn areas were integrated to enhance guest experiences. Signature palm trees and mass plantings define the resort’s character, reinforcing a coastal atmosphere of relaxation.
enhancing accessibility and circulation
Seamless access throughout the site was a key design priority, ensuring that guests, staff, and emergency personnel could navigate the resort effortlessly. The landscape design adhered to Australian Standard AS 1428.1 – 2001 for access and mobility. Carefully planned pedestrian pathways connect key resort areas, enhancing both functionality and guest convenience.
streetscape transformation
As part of the development, significant streetscape enhancements were required to align with Tweed Coast Council’s urban design standards. These upgrades included refined pavement finishes, contemporary street furniture, and strategic trees to create an inviting, pedestrian-friendly environment. The result is a rejuvenated streetscape that not only complements the resort’s landscape but also contributes to the broader urban fabric of the region.
Through innovative landscape architecture, Twin Towns Resort has established itself as a holiday destination, where design, nature, and functionality converge to elevate the guest experience.
