Surrounded by lush greenery and mature trees, this dynamic affordable housing development seamlessly integrates sustainability with modern living. Featuring two multi-level apartment buildings and a collection of town homes, the landscape enhances liveability while fostering a strong connection with nature.
Designed in unity with the environment, the landscape balances ecological responsibility with aesthetic appeal. Water management solutions regulate runoff, directing it through natural filtration systems that flow to the adjoining waterway.

Green spaces create peaceful retreats where residents can unwind, while strategic planting helps buffer urban noise, ensuring a tranquil living environment. The landscape features multiple outdoor areas designed to encourage community interaction and relaxation. Two outdoor entertaining spaces, complete with barbecue and shelter facilities, provide inviting settings for social gatherings.
commitment to tree retention and protection
In alignment with Brisbane City Council’s Natural Assets Local Law (NALL) protection requirements, the retention of mature native trees was central to the landscape strategy.
A key initiative was the preservation of a majestic fig (Ficus sp.) at the heart of the development, along with several mature paperbarks (Melaleuca sp.). The iconic fig tree now serves as a defining focal point, anchoring the entrance and main driveway while seamlessly connecting built and natural elements.
Citicene led this process in collaboration with the client, an ecological consultant, and the builder to assess, document, and implement measures that safeguarded significant trees throughout the site. Protective fencing, controlled construction access, and ongoing arborist monitoring ensured the integrity of these valuable natural assets.
By prioritizing tree preservation from the early planning stages, the project not only met local regulations but reinforced its commitment to environmental stewardship and long-term sustainability.
