Benaraby Travel Stop
Primarily a native plant palette, the landscape of this project reflects and protects the natural surrounding environment.
Benaraby, Queensland, Australia
Developed by Spinks & Co and constructed by Hutchinson Builders, this highway service centre on the Bruce Highway at Benaraby is anchored by Caltex. This project also includes a number of retail outlets.
The landscape of this project reflects and protects the natural surrounding environment. Use of native and indigenous species were used in all areas.
Grasses and sedges in combination with overland flow paths, swales and bio-filtration basins ensure sustainable storm-water quality improvement. This was a priority to protect the surrounding waterway.
An acoustic vegetated buffer includes upper, mid and lower storey species. This provides acoustic separation between the travel stop and adjoining residential properties. Vegetation has significant acoustic benefits when densely planted.
Sight-line safety clearances as well as signage visual clearances from the adjoining carriageway are maintained. Meeting the Local Authority amenity requirements for a project of this character was essential to achieve approval.
