sustainable landscape design in logistics

CHEP (Commonwealth Handling Equipment Pool) stands at the forefront of global supply chain solutions, specializing in the rental and pooling of pallets, crates, and containers. Founded in Australia, CHEP’s reach spans across numerous countries, supporting a wide range of industries from consumer goods to automotive and agriculture.

At Goodman’s Redbank Estate, CHEP developed a state-of-the-art service centre, seamlessly integrating sustainable design practices into the landscape to complement the company’s environmental values.

a native oasis – where sustainability meets design

The landscape surrounding CHEP was crafted to blend seamlessly with the natural environment. The design incorporates sustainable features such as native planting, recreational spaces, and storm water management systems that enhance both the function and beauty of the site. The result is an inviting, eco-friendly space that fosters a strong connection with nature.

innovative spaces – a functional staff retreat

The staff recreation area is a contemporary, multi-functional space designed to provide both aesthetic enjoyment and practical use. The vertical planting along steel pedestrian arbours will create shaded pathways and seating areas over time, while flowering native species like Australian Bottlebrush (Callistemon sp.) provide food for local wildlife, enriching the site’s ecological value.

Additional Australian species, such as Lemon Myrtle (Backhousia citriodora), Blueberry Ash (Elaeocarpus eumundii), Bailey’s Grevillea (Grevillea baileyana), Waterhousea (Waterhousea floribunda), Gymea Lily (Doryanthes excelsa), Fraser Island Climber (Tecomanthe hillii), Midgen Berry (Austromyrtus dulcis), and Swamp Banksia (Banksia robur), have been incorporated to enhance biodiversity, provide seasonal interest, and contribute to a lush, layered planting palette.

welcoming, relaxing spaces to connect with nature

The outdoor spaces also feature seating facilities within a contemporary paved area, offering employees and visitors a welcoming place to relax and connect with nature while taking a break from work. The plant selection and layout emphasize an organic and natural aesthetic, with carefully chosen native species that thrive in the local climate while requiring minimal maintenance.

By integrating functional outdoor spaces with environmentally responsible design, the landscape reflects CHEP’s commitment to sustainability while providing a dynamic and enjoyable setting within the logistics hub.
