innovative landscape for Mapletree logistics park

Singapore investment developer Mapletree has made a significant impact on South-East Queensland’s industrial development boom with the creation of the Mapletree Logistics Park. This $500 million, state-of-the-art logistics and industrial precinct is located in Crestmead, south of Logan City.

Spanning up to 60,000sqm of premium warehouse space, the logistics park offers unparalleled access to major transport routes, including the Logan Motorway, Gateway Motorway, and Mt Lindsay Highway. Beyond its exceptional facilities, the landscape plays an important role in enhancing the park’s overall appeal.

landscape – elevating the industrial environment

The landscape for Mapletree Logistics Park was designed with an understanding of environmental sustainability and the local context. Guided by the master plan, the client’s vision, and Logan City Council’s landscape requirements, the design focuses on creating an attractive, functional, and environmentally responsible setting for both employees and visitors.

The landscape incorporates vegetation buffers around the site’s perimeters, featuring native plant species that visually soften the starkness of the warehouses while enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal. These green zones not only add beauty but also improve the amenity of the space.

Strategically placed significant trees at key entry points further emphasize the park’s identity and provide a welcoming sense of arrival. The ornamental planting around office entrances adds vibrancy and character, ensuring that the park maintains a professional yet visually appealing atmosphere.

Environmental considerations were central to the design, with a focus on soil and erosion control. Native grasses and geofabric were carefully integrated into the drainage swales and batters, helping prevent soil degradation and sediment loss. This approach ensures that the landscape remains sustainable, resilient, and easy to maintain.

In addition to functional elements, the landscape design improved the parking zones with the inclusion of specimen shade trees and mid-to-lower storey planting. These additions not only enhance the aesthetic quality of the spaces but also adhere to Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CEPTED) principles, providing a safe, welcoming environment. The plant species selected are hardy, drought-tolerant, and low-maintenance, ensuring functionality over time.
