Twin Towns is a resort on the Gold Coast and provides the community with a range of services including clubs and entertainment facilities as well as accommodation.

Twin Towns Services Club developed Stage 2 of their Twin Towns Resort in Coolangatta, Gold Coast. This 197 apartment hotel is a $60 Million investment from Twin Towns.
A joint venture between Twin Towns Services Club and Baulderstone Hornibrook, this resort added substantial carparking, retail and 15 storey resort tower.
The landscape component of the project included achieving Development Approval and landscape architectural services through to completion.
A majority of landscape works were constructed on a podium environment including a swimming pool, water feature, pavement areas, mini golf course, planter boxes and buffering garden beds.
In addition to this, there is a children’s playground, tennis courts, open lawn areas and mass planting. Feature trees and a circular row of palm trees assist in defining a resort character.
The local authority also required upgrades to the surrounding streetscapes as part of the landscape works.
This included revised pavement finishes, new street furniture, specimen street trees and new kerb lines with the aim to meet Tweed Coast Council’s streetscape guidelines and provide a rejuvenated streetscape character.
landscape architectural intent
The aim of the landscape is to enhance the architectural intent of the resort by providing an appropriate outdoor environment for visitors, guests and tourists.
podium landscape
Due to the nature of the development, a large portion of the landscape works are on podium level. To ensure longevity of the landscape, consideration of depths of planters, appropriate soil types suitable for podium environments and final landscape weights were assessed in conjunction with the structural Engineer.
pedestrian circulation and equitable access
Access around and through the site was part of the design process to ensure patrons, staff and emergency personnel could access all areas of the podium easily and efficiently.
Equitable access requirements to ensure the podium landscape met Australian Standard AS 1428.1 – 2001 Design for access and mobility is standard practice and applied in this situation.

streetcape enhancements
Tweed Coast Regional Council required upgrades to their city streets as part of the Development Approval process. This included revitalized pavement finishes, street furniture and street trees.
This component of the project required a defects and maintenance period as part of the compliance to meet the local authorities standards.
