k130 Mining Camp
Fairview | Roma | Queensland | Australia
The Australian outback is a notoriously harsh environment, and this Mining Camp Facility is no exception. As part of a major investment in Queensland’s gas exploration, the camp provides a base for employees working on the project.
The camp’s layout was meticulously planned to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing landscape within a strict budget, covering a vast area. Special attention was given to recreational and pedestrian areas, enhancing the overall landscape.
To ensure plant survivability and sustainability in this remote location, careful selection of plant species was essential. Cost-effective and low-maintenance initiatives included using locally selected inorganic mulch for most planted areas and larger aggregate in drainage swales to manage overland flow.
Mining camps can be either temporary or permanent and typically house a large number of personnel away from home. It is therefore crucial to create environments that enhance residents’ well-being while adhering to cost-effective construction budgets.
Working within a strict budget, Citicene, in conjunction with Scape Shapes, delivered a landscape that met both the builder’s financial and timeline requirements.
