Black & Veatch and Thiess on behalf of the Queensland Government, project managed the construction of this Western Corridor recycled water infrastructure project.

This large water treatment plant is located alongside a waterway corridor and adjoining residential community. Consideration of these two neighbouring land uses were an important component of the landscape architectural design.

A key objective of the landscape design was to soften the visual and noise impacts of the plant for neighbouring residents. This was achieved through construction of a large heavily vegetated acoustic mound that was covered with native species.

Specific landscape objectives for this project included:

  • strategic planting to reduce lighting and visual impacts from Southern and Western aspects;
  • re-vegetation and rehabilitation of a neighbouring existing waterway;
  • street tree planting to the surrounding roadway network;
  • native planting to a large acoustic mound to the South of the site.

Citicene has the experience and track record to deliver landscape solutions and design outcomes within a large consultant team on Government funded infrastructure projects.
